He was one of the guitarists that changed the world. He laid the ground work for punk rock music, eight years ahead of his time, and he set the bar very high for the punk bands who would follow. Fun House is one of the earliest punk rock albums (1970, predating the punk explosion by seven years) and still one of the top five ever recorded. The Stooges was also my favorite concert I've ever attended. He would also serve as a great influence to multiple generations of musicians who could work with very little and turn it into something big by sheer imagination and creativity. Without Ron Asheton, there may have been no Ramones, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, and the list could go on and on. I was lucky enough to have seen him play twice in 2007, but no longer will anyone get to experience the power and the glory that was his unique style and creative genius. The name is derived from two things: 1) Andy Warhol's workshop in New York City and 2) an old venue that I used to go to frequently in Fort Wayne, until it was torn down and paved over. The show is simple in its motive: to bring great music from an incredible range of variety. We will go from jazz to hip hop to classical to punk rock to whatever else I choose.
